It has been revealed that Keisha Buchanan, Sugababes only remaining original member, has been sacked from the group, putting to bed rumours that Amelle Berrabah had quit the band.

An official statement released on the band’s website announced the new formation: “The current line-up of the Sugababes has disbanded.

“Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah will continue as the Sugababes and will be joined by new member Jade Ewen.”

It added that 24-year-old Buchanan would continue to record for Island Records as a solo artist.

The singer, who is said to be devastated by the axe, conveyed her feelings via Twitter, she said: “Although it was not my choice to leave, it’s time to enter a new chapter in my life. I’ve had a great time and have achieved more than I ever thought I would.”

Addressing whispers of her rift with band-mate Berrabah, she continued: “Sometimes a breakdown in communication and lack of trust can result in many different things. There were no arguments, bullying or anything of that sort that would lead to this.”

Phew, with the ever-changing line-up, Sugababes are certainly giving Destiny’s Child a run for their money.

Amelle Berrabah quits the Sugababes?

Amelle Berrabah

Amelle Berrabah is rumoured to have quit the Sugababes amid reports of bullying by fellow band mate Keisha Buchanan.

The 24-year-old singer, who recently achieved chart success with a solo venture on Tinchy Stryder’s ‘Never Leave You’ had noticeably missed a string of public appearances in the last week following a heated argument with the only original member Keisha.

And in true form, the band have wasted no time in getting a replacement, Eurovision star Jade Ewen is thought to be stepping into Amelle’s shoes.

A statement from Jade’s record label said: Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, we regret to inform you that Jade Ewen will be taking time off from all promotional activity for the foreseeable future.”

Amelle, who joined the group in 2005 to replace Mutya Buena is the third member to walk out since the groups inception.

This doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Looking at the Sugababes history, they were overdue a new line-up.
