Susan Boyle Vs Barack Obama and the Today Show

A sign of the times?

It seems Barack Obama is no match for Susan Boyle when it comes to primetime.

The American President had hoped to broadcast a televised press conference at 9pm today on NBC to explain his plans for reforming America’s private-sector health care system, but Mr Obama was rebuffed by the network in favour of the Britains Got Talent runner-up.

Instead, The White House was forced into moving President Obama’s latest prime time news conference to 8pm, when it will be aired live on three US networks, including NBC.

A US television insider told the Daily Express: “The television networks normally comply even if it is in prime viewing.

“It can lose them ratings and millions of dollars in advertising revenue. But NBC dug its heels in and refused to push Susan out of the prime time slot, so The White House had to just blink.”

The 48-year-old Scottish spinster has enjoyed worldwide success following her sensational performance of ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ from Les Miserables on the hit ITV show, of which the clip took the internet by storm.

Britain’s Got Talent Susan Boyle is YouTube hit

A video of Susan Boyle’s audition for Britain’s Got Talent looks set to become the most viewed YouTube clip ever.

Less than two weeks after it was uploaded to the site Susan’s audition has been watched more than 100million times – closing in to smash the previous record.

And it has been watched five times more than US President Barack Obama’s inauguration ceremony in January, which has had 18.5million views.

The current most watched clip on YouTube is comedian Judson Laipply’s Evolution Of Dance, which has been viewed 118 million times since it was uploaded in April 2006.

The 47-year-old Scot left viewers open-mouthed with her sensational rendition of ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ from the musical Les Miserables.

She is the red-hot favourite to walk away with the television programme’s £100,000 prize and to perform in front of the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance.

She said: “I’m doing all this as a tribute to my Mum. If she could see me now, she’d be very proud.”

I’m just waiting for the impending makeover.
