Kanye West not banned from Haiti telethon
Moral of this story, never upset a Disney tween.
Rumour has it, Kanye West has been barred from taking part in George Clooney’s televised telethon – Hope for Haiti: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief, this Friday.
According to PopEater, the rappers outspoken nature is the reason for the snub. During a televised goodwill event for Hurricane Katrina victims in 2005, West ranted that “George Bush doesn’t care about black people,” and at the 2009 MTV VMAs, the 32-year-old, surprisingly stormed the stage to interrupt Taylor Swift as she was accepting an award, reducing the starlet to tears.
A source for the gossip site said: “After what he said on the Katrina telethon and the way he behaved at the MTV Video Music Awards, everyone agrees it’s just best that he does not participate. Kayne has to make everything about himself. He will do anything to steal the spotlight and, well, this night it’s just not about him.”
But a rep for MTV quashed whispers that the Love Lockdown singer is banned from the show: “That’s absolutely not true. We did reach out to Kanye.”
A cavalcade of stars are confirmed to be participating on Friday night’s telethon for Haiti’s earthquake victims, including Madonna, Jay-Z, Brad Pitt, Chris Rock, Leonardo DiCaprio, Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Will Smith, Muhammad Ali and Robert Pattinson.
Barred or not, if Kanye was to make an appearance, we imagine it would go a little something like this…”Haiti i’m really happy for you, and i’ma let you finish, but I was the biggest disaster of 2009 of all time.”
OK, I know what your thinking… that meme was a fail. My reply to that… *Kanye shrug*

Nicole Kidman powders her nose
Someone get Nicole Kidman a mirror!
Sporting streaks of unblended white powder on her nose and under the eyes, the usually immaculate actress suffered from a make-up malfunction on the red carpet during the New York premiere of Nine, last night.
Aside from the beauty faux-pas, the 42-year-old dazzled in a Prada prom-dress giving her younger co-stars – Kate Hudson, Penélope Cruz and Fergie a run-for-their money in the style stakes.
Perhaps she was auditioning for the forthcoming Batman flick?

Madonna in horse accident
Madonna has suffered minor injuries and bruises after taking a tumble in a horse riding accident.
The 50-year-old singer, who suffered broken bones in a similar accident three years ago, was leaping over hurdles on a brown steed in the Hamptons when she was bucked-off.
Rescue workers arrived minutes later to take the ‘Like a Virgin’ songstress to Southampton Hospital.
Her spokesperson Liz Rosenburg claims the 50-year-old fell when her mount was “startled by paparazzi who jumped out of the bushes” to take pictures of her.
However, Sgt. Herbert Johnson from the Southampton Village P.D. told TMZ, “There is no mention of photographers. It’s a matter of spin control that went out of control. If they felt there was something else, they would have written ‘paparazzi’ in the form – if they felt there was a problem.”
Freelance photographer Thomas Hinton who had been on the scene before Madonna fell explained, “If I had startled the horse, I would have gotten pictures.”
The pop star was staying at the celebrity snapper Steven Klein’s Bridgehampton farm with friends, her 22-year-old boyfriend Jesus Luz was among those to witness the accident.
Gosh, I really hope everything is alright? With the horse I mean.
Gwyneth Paltrow’s ‘frenemy’
Gwyneth Paltrow took to her website ‘GOOP’ to write about a so-called friend from her past and the ‘deep relief and happiness’ she felt on hearing of the aforementioned persons downfall.
The actress wrote: “Back in the day, I had a “frenemy” who, as it turned out, was pretty hell-bent on taking me down. This person really did what they could to hurt me. I was deeply upset, I was angry, I was all of those things you feel when you find out that someone you thought you liked was venomous and dangerous. I restrained myself from fighting back. I tried to take the high road.
“But one day I heard that something unfortunate and humiliating had happened to this person. And my reaction was deep relief and…happiness. There went the high road.”
It has been speculated that the comments are aimed at fellow actress Winona Ryder, who was once a close friend and flatmate of the ‘Emma’ star.
They reportedly fell out after Paltrow won an Oscar as best actress for her role alongside Ben Affleck in Shakespeare In Love in 1998 – a part Ryder is believed to have been offered first.
Ryder’s own career suffered a setback when she was convicted of shoplifting in Los Angeles.
Gwyneth Paltrow does seem to be a bad judge of character – she is best friends with Madonna after all.
Madonna donates to Earthquake victims
Madonna may have been denied the chance to provide a home for a Malawian child but instead she’s giving a charitable hand to help countless others rebuild their lives.
The Material Girl has made a substantial donation to aid victims of Monday’s earthquake in the mountainous Abruzzo region of Italy that has left 200 dead and an estimated 50,000 people homeless.
Although the actual sum of the contribution has not been disclosed, it has been reported to be around $500,000.
The singer, whose grandparents originally hail from the aforementioned province said: “I am happy to lend a helping hand to the town that my ancestors are from.
“My heart goes out to the families that have lost loved ones or their homes.”
Good to know the singer is putting her millions of dollars to some good use.
Madonna leaves Malawi
Madonna left Malawi today after her failed adoption bid for 3-year-old Mercy James.
The little girl was preparing to return back to the orphanage where the star had found her.
A Kumbali Lodge staff member where the 50-year-old was staying said: “Madonna spent some time with Mercy; she looked sad but Lourdes, who had clicked with the little girl, looked devastated.”
The ‘Like A Virgin’ singer has since filed an appeal against the ruling.
